Before people arrive
Choose one purpose for the gathering and keep the invitation simple. Decide when you will begin and end, who will open, and how people can take part without being required to speak aloud.
Leader checklist
- Set the time and tell people what the meeting is for.
- Choose a short passage from a version you can verify, if you plan to read one.
- Decide how requests will be shared and whether anything will be written down.
- Prepare one transition into group prayer and one way to close.
A 30-minute working plan
Adapt, do not rushThis is a working example to test with leaders. It gives the group a clear beginning and ending while leaving most of the time for prayer.
Welcome and orient
Say why you are gathering, how long you have, and that people may participate silently.
Begin with a focus
Read a short, verified passage or make room for quiet reflection.
Pray together
Offer brief prompts around the shared focus. Let each person enter without pressure.
Receive requests
Invite requests. Do not ask for private details or assume they can be shared outside the room.
Close with care
Offer a final prayer, thank the group, and end when you said you would.
When the room goes quiet
A pause can be useful when people know what it is for. If the group seems unsure, give one plain prompt and enough time to respond. Anyone who prefers not to speak aloud can remain silent.
“We can take a quiet moment. You are welcome to pray aloud or silently.”
After the gathering
Keep a short private note about the process: Did people know what came next? Was there enough time to pray? Did the closing feel clear? Avoid recording or sharing a person's request without their permission.

This draft's workflow was compared with Cru's prayer-meeting guide, InterVarsity's leader quicksheet, and Biola's thirty-minute example. Those resources informed the task comparison; their wording was not reused here.
